    History

    The first version of Squarespace was built by Anthony Casalena because he wanted a personal website for himself. Eventually he began sharing his platform with family and friends. It was then that her realized that other people were effected by the lack of options for building their own personal websites. As more people asked him if thye could use his tools, he gained the momentum to run a positive cash-flow business.

    Requirements

    Without the option of self-hosting, there are no server requirements. Supported browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Edge Legacy, and Safari.

    Hosted or Self-Hosted

    Squarespace is an all-in-one hosted website platform where all the components needed to build and create a website are included. Squarespace does not allow for self-hosting. You must use their servers.

    Cost

    There are not any free services for Squarespace, however, there is a 14 day free trial. For each of the plans, there are monthy plan fees or a user can pay annually to save anywhere from 24% to 30%. The lowest available plan is $16/month (annually) all the way up to $65.00/month (monthly).

    User Base

    Approximately 3.8% of all the websites in the world are built using Squarespace. Companies like Coca-Cola, Tesla, and even the New York times have used Squarespace to build their online presence.
