Website Review of Descript.com
When embarking on this assignment, I was presented with a few questions. The first one was simply, "how do I know for sure that a website is coded in HTML5?" Being that I am brand new at this, I had to be absolutely positive. So with a quick Google search, I found a keyboard shortcut that displayed the code for any website I was viewing. "Woah", I exclaimed after my first try, as my youngest daughter looked over my shoulder and said, "hacker"... and smugly walked away.
Once I was able to confidently pick out a website with the correct criteria, I set out on a search for something fabulous. What I tripped over was this beautiful gem of a website... and pretty amazing product too. Descript.com could be added to Webster's description of "innovation". The website is set up with vibrant, contrasting colors that are subtle but crisp. I found this site to be user friendly and even entertaining. I personally love the video! As I browsed the site, I was taken with the animations and elements which make this website professional yet fun; just like it's market product! Simply said, Descript.com makes the statement, "You have got to check this out!"
The product definitely has my attention. I think with a "bland" website, the product would still be amazing, but as a software consumer, the wrong website might cause someone to miss out on this incredible product. As a student in this class, I have to say, I certainly appreciate that this assignment gave me the personal opportunity to really see what developers can do with websites AND software these days.
